Making The Lord Your Joy - Nick Tan

Psalms 37:4 - Make Yahweh your joy AND he will give you your heart’s desires

In the book of Psalms; the Bible says that if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He’ll grant us the desires of our heart. How then do we make Him our joy?

It’s simply putting Him first in everything that we do and being WILLING and HAPPY doing it. By seeking His kingdom first, all the things that we need in this world to live, He’ll provide for us things we need. Some examples of making Him our joy:

As a student, we delight ourselves in the Lord when we put him first in our lives, this means even going for mass if it’s exam time, it also means making time for the Lord in time of prayer.
Joining a youth group has two ways of delighting in the Lord, firstly, the spiritual inputs helps to increase our faith and also sharpen our knowledge; this increases our knowledge of our standing with the Lord and improves our relationship with Him.

Secondly, by serving and ministering to His people and fellow youths, we’re evangelizing in our own ways and this is seeking His kingdom.

As an adult, it means that we place a priority in serving the Lord and being true to his commandments, for example, that we do not let the nature of our jobs force us to fail in our Christian way of living (e.g. cheating).

It also means taking the role as a parent seriously, as children are a gift from GOD, parents should appreciate the gift and not merely treat them as a hindrance or leave them to their own device, but rather to bring them up in the ways of the Lord and to do so with love.

This spiritual law is applicable to everyone and we should claim this all the days of our life.
